Arab Baths in Palma de Mallorca

Whilst visiting Palma on the island of Mallorca, we had a visit to the Arab Baths in the old town.  Dating to 10th or 11th century, these are the only arab baths remaining in the city. as well as the preserved baths, the former orchard is now a delightful garden.

The former bath house, there would have been a rectangular pool in the centre which has been filled in.

Looking up into the ceiling with small window/vents in the roof

Stepping outside into a small but delightful garden filled with palms and other exotics

A twin washingtonia, looks like this was probably two seedlings rather than a double header

If you visit Palma, then the Arab baths are worth finding, tucked away on a side street in the old town, close to the cathedral.

  1. The Arab baths are interesting but also a little spooky. On the other hand, the surrounding gardens are beautiful and inviting. I'm glad to see that you two are enjoying traveling again.

  2. Evocative of a whole different world. Looks like a wonderful place to visit

The garden could just as well be Southern California as Mallorca--no plant seems unfamiliar.

  3. What a beautiful spot-and money can't buy stone walls like that .
