Miss Photogenic

So many plants are looking very beautiful in our garden at the moment, with it being early summer and all. One in particular has been especially catching my eye over the past few weeks. And with it catching my eye it has also been inevitably getting lots of attention from our camera too.

Just like in a beauty pageant, every candidate may be beautiful but only one will be deemed as the most loved by photographers and their camera - Miss Photogenic.

If I'm going to give that accolade to a plant over the past few weeks then it will have to be this particular Schefflera delavayi growing in the third raised bed in the new koi pond area.

It caught my eye at this stage and when I started taking photos of it

I've featured this plant several times already on our Facebook page and Twitter account so if you follow us there you would have seen some of these photos of the same plant already. At the risk of being over repetitive I'm featuring it again as a stand alone blog post.

It is currently looking like this

But I can't help it, I think it's just so photogenic! Currently my 'Miss Photogenic' of a plant!

  1. Under extreme protest I must admit the flush on that plant is amazing and it does beat my favourite which is Taiwaniana. I've tried Delavayi before and it never really did much but as a result of your pictures I really must try again much harder

    1. It's looking exceptional this year Don. Usually S. taiwaniana is the queen of flushing scheffies but this one takes the crown for me this year :)

  2. I am guessing your plant came from Clive at Hardy exotics in Cornwall? Perhaps his are hardier and more prolific clones. I notice Crug say that it is a slow growing plant so I guess theirs is from a different collection ? or perhaps you just have a magical touch.

    1. This one came from Mark Fillan which he grew from seed. It has been through two winter although last one was very mild. I've planted out one from Hardy Exotics before but it perished. It's not that slow growing thankfully :)

  3. She is beautiful and nothing beats the drama of some of the aralia family when they put out a new flush of foliage.

  11. First off, the touchpad is a real pain in the rear.

Keep on changing the flavour and make it interesting not
only for you but a lot living around you. As it stands right now, the official
court-sanctioned answer to these questions is no,
    no and no.
